About us

Rosie Mae’s Bakery wants you to be excited about food again.

The name Rosie Mae’s is a combination of owner Lori Darnell’s two daughters, Ellie Mae and Rosie June. Lori graduated from Portland State University in 2008 with a degree in Communication and Japanese, and lived in Mito, Japan, shortly after graduating. It was there that Lori enjoyed discovering new flavors and cooking techniques with frequent trips to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. However, she also became homesick for Portland-style bakeries and brunches that she grew to miss so much.

After returning home after two years, Lori enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu where she completed her Baking and Patisserie Certificate. She then gained experience making artisanal bread from Lovejoy Bakers, moved to Hillsboro, OR in 2013, and welcomed Eloise into the world with her husband Keenan.

Lori’s pastry career pivoted as she grew her family, but eventually gained more professional experience at South Store Cafe and other bakeries around town. She continued to grow in her expertise and always dreamed of opening her own bakery one day.

That dream came to fruition when she found a space in August 2023 and opened Rosie Mae’s doors on September 23rd, 2023 in Aloha, OR. The team has grown to six employees, each with their own accolades for technique and passion. Our talented bakers come from renowned Portland institutions such as Grand Central Bakery, Ken’s Artisan Bakery, and more.

Our bakery is made of passion, grit, and love. We strive to provide the best flavors and exceptional service and quality to our community, and thank you for following us on our journey.
